Eric Lloyd is an American former child actor, born in Glendale, California, who played Charlie Calvin in The Santa Clause (1994) and its two sequels. He later earned a film degree, founded LP Studios and plays in the band Radiomason, and he returned as Charlie in a 2022 episode of The Santa Clauses.
Eric Lloyd was seven when he was put on wires in front of a green screen and thought Santa Claus was real. He told ABC News he believed it "for years after the movie" [2]. He is the actor who played Charlie Calvin, Tim Allen's son, in Disney's The Santa Clause in 1994 [2]. Today he spends his days building recording and film studios in Los Angeles, and this page follows the whole path, from a toddler's first commercial to his own studio.
A note on the name: several people are called Eric Lloyd, and searches for "Eric Lloyd The Birthday Song" lead to a singer. We found no source linking this actor to that song, so it is not covered here.
Early life in Glendale
Lloyd was born on 19 May 1986 in Glendale, California [7] [4]. The Movie Database lists his birth name as David Eric Lloyd Morelli [7]. The press pieces we checked do not describe his parents, so we leave them out. His sister, Emily Ann Lloyd, was also a child actor, with credits that include Kindergarten Cop, Apollo 13 and Knots Landing [4].
His own site says he began acting at age one, in a commercial for IBM computers [1]. ABC News puts the start at 18 months [2]. The two accounts differ by a few months and describe the same thing, a baby hired for an advert.
The break: Wonder Years and Heart and Souls
His first on-screen television role was an uncredited turn as the young Kevin Arnold in an episode of The Wonder Years in 1989 [4] [2]. His first feature film followed in 1993, Heart and Souls, in which he played a young version of the character played by Robert Downey Jr. [2]. His site names the character as the young Thomas Reilly [1]. Those two credits led to the audition that changed his career.
Charlie Calvin and The Santa Clause
In The Santa Clause (1994) he played Charlie, the son of Scott Calvin, a man who accidentally becomes Santa Claus. He was seven during filming [2]. The set, he recalled, was full of "classic Santa toys", including wooden trains and a giant Eiffel Tower erector set [2]. The flying scenes were mostly effects, shot on wires in front of a green screen, and he has described himself as "a little timid" as a child [2].
He also told ABC News about an accident: he knocked out both front teeth in a fall at a Toronto Blue Jays game during the shoot, and a dentist made a temporary replacement while the production adjusted its schedule [2]. He got on well with Tim Allen and called co-stars Paige Tamada and David Krumholtz two of his best friends during filming [2]. The film premiered in Westwood on 6 November 1994 [2].
He returned as Charlie in The Santa Clause 2 (2002) and The Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause (2006) [2] [3]. In 2022 he reprised the role once more in a Season 1 episode of the Disney+ series The Santa Clauses [4]. Chip Chick describes it as a guest appearance in episode two [5].
Child roles in the 1990s
Charlie was not his only part. In 1996 he played Kyle in Dunston Checks In [4], a comedy with Jason Alexander [1]. In 1997 he appeared as the young Bruce Wayne in flashbacks in Batman & Robin and as Hillard Block in Woody Allen's Deconstructing Harry [4]. From 1998 to 2000 he played "Little John" Warner for two seasons on the NBC sitcom Jesse [4]. Romper describes it as a regular role on Christina Applegate's comedy [3].

From actor to studio owner
After the trilogy Lloyd studied film. He holds a BFA in Film Production from Chapman University in California [5] [1]. He did not leave music behind either. As a teenager he built his first music studio in a shipping container that classmates called "The Crate" [1]. His first band, Conflict Conveyed Through Audio, rehearsed there [1]. He made his first music video, "Cadence", at 18 and recorded the band's first album in the container at 21 [1]. Looper dates that debut album to 2007 [4].
Later he became lead vocalist and guitarist of Radiomason, a role he has held since at least 2014 [4] [3]. In a 2014 Reddit AMA he said: "My life pretty much revolves around that, doing band stuff" [3].
Professionally he works as an editor, sound designer and sound mixer, and his production credits include Chromeskull: Laid to Rest 2 and Hijacked [4] [1]. He also recorded on-location sound and video for live music events such as Polyrhythmic: Live and Spirit Fingers: Live [1].
LP Studios and Lloyd Production Studios
He founded LP Studios in 2014 to offer production and post-production for film and music [1] [4]. Romper says he co-founded it with Tyler Payne [3], and ABC News described him in 2015 as a co-owner [2]. The first location had a cyc-wall sound stage with a green screen and several recording and post-production suites [1].
The sources differ slightly on the timeline. His own site says the five-year lease ended in 2019 and that he built Glen Rock Studio in his backyard in 2020 [1]. Chip Chick says the lease ended in 2020, just as the COVID-19 lockdowns started [5]. Both agree on what came next. In 2021 he leased a building in the Frogtown neighbourhood of Los Angeles, and it opened in 2022 as Lloyd Production Studios [1]. The studio has hosted artist events, concerts and jam sessions [1].
He also works as a host and emcee at live events and brand promotions, with Looper naming Glenlivet, Revel Tequila and B*tchin' Sauce, and he records paid personalised video greetings [4].
Relationships
In December 2015 ABC News reported that he was single [2]. Romper reported in December 2017 that he was married to Lisa Marie Tasker [3]. In 2022 Looper, drawing on an Elite Daily report, wrote that the two appear to be married, have been together since around 2016, and that his most recent post about her dated from November 2022 [4]. We could not find an interview in which he describes the relationship himself, so we say only what those two outlets report. None of the pieces we checked mention children [3] [4].
What he does now
Lloyd does not chase acting work. Romper quotes him saying he would "love to act again" but planned to "make my own way in" through music and his studio [3]. Looper adds that he does not actively seek or audition for roles [4]. Looper noted that he picketed during the 2023 SAG-AFTRA strike, as shown in a November 2023 Instagram post [4]. In 2024 he appeared as himself on the game show The Floor, in a Season 2 episode [4]. He lives in Los Angeles [2] [6]. His website lists his fields as film, music, production and post-production, and offers studio construction and design [1].
Net worth
Several websites publish a figure for his wealth. We did not find one from a recognised outlet with a date and method, so we do not print a number. The checkable income sources are a mix of studio work, events, paid greetings and occasional acting [4].
