Arda Güler

Arda Güler joined Real Madrid from Fenerbahçe in July 2023 [7]. He is a Türkiye international, and at 18 years and 114 days he became the youngest player to score for the national team [10]. In October 2026 English-language outlets reported that he had agreed a contract extension, but they disagree on whether it runs to 2031 or 2032, and Fichajes.net said in September that the club had not yet announced it [4] [11].

Early life and nationality

Güler was born on 25 February 2005 [1] [3]. His federation profile gives his place of birth as Altındağ, while the federation's match book for the Türkiye and Spain game in September 2025 gives only Ankara [1] [3]. The profile records his nationality as TC [1], and the federation's Euro 2024 squad page lists him in the Turkey squad [2].

Before Real Madrid he played for Fenerbahçe SK, where Soccerway says he had been since 2019 and describes him as a gem of the club [8]. By June 2023 he had 4 goals and 4 assists in 20 league appearances for Fenerbahçe that season [9].

The move to Real Madrid

Real Madrid announced the signing in the first week of July 2023. Soccerway quotes the club statement as dated Thursday the 6th, while Hürriyet Daily News dates the announcement to 7 July [8] [7]. The club statement said he would be tied to the club for six seasons [8].

The fee was not disclosed officially, according to Soccerway, which reports that Spanish press put it at about 20 million euros [8]. Hürriyet Daily News reported an initial 20 million euros to Fenerbahçe, with up to 10 million euros more in add-ons and bonuses, which could raise the total to 30 million euros [7]. The paper headlined the deal as making him Türkiye's most expensive player [7].

Records for Türkiye in June 2023

In June 2023 he started a match for the senior national side against Latvia in Euro 2024 qualifying Group D. It was his third appearance for Türkiye, after coming on as a substitute against Czechia and Croatia, and beIN Sports reported that he became the third-youngest player to start a match for the senior team [9].

On 19 June 2023 he came on against Wales in the 61st minute and scored in the 80th, making it 2-0 [10]. CNN Türk reported that he scored at 18 years and 114 days, which made him the youngest player to score for the national team [10].

Caps and goals over time

The federation's Euro 2024 squad page lists him among the forwards, wearing the number 8 shirt, with 12 caps and 2 goals [2]. The federation's TamSaha magazine for June 2025 gives 19 caps and 4 goals [6]. The match book for the Türkiye and Spain game in September 2025 gives 22 caps and 5 goals [3]. These are the most recent federation figures in the pages reviewed, so later totals may be higher.

A first UEFA Super Cup

On 15 August 2024 the federation congratulated him on winning his first UEFA Super Cup in his career, with Real Madrid [5].

Role and value at Real Madrid

Daily Sabah reported in October 2026 that Real Madrid view Güler as an important player for both the present and the future, and that he made 40 starts last season [4]. Quoting Mourinho, the article says: 'He is a player with fantastic potential who already has very interesting numbers' [4].

According to the same report, the new agreement also includes a salary increase that reflects his growing importance to the team. No amount was disclosed [4]. Transfermarkt has raised his market value to €100 million from €90 million [4].

The contract reports of October 2026

On 5 October 2026 Anadolu Agency, carried by Daily Sabah, reported that Güler had reached a two-year extension from his 2029 expiry, which would keep him at the club until 2031. The report cites the Madrid daily AS [4].

Crypto Briefing described the extension as expected rather than signed, with his current deal running through 30 June 2029 [12]. A six-season deal from July 2023 also points to 2029 [8].

Fichajes.net, citing AS on 10 September 2026, gave June 2032 instead [11]. The two end years cannot both be right, and the reports reviewed do not include a Real Madrid statement that settles the question.
